AFRICAN HAIR SUMMIT 2019

The summit was held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja on the 14th and 15th of June 2019. The founder of the summit was Mrs Adanna Egwuatu Enwezor.

Mrs Adanna.

The summit was graced with the presence of dignitaries which included representatives from NAFDAC, SON, Abuja Enterprise Agency, DAAR communications (AIT), radio stations representatives also. There were numerous Hair care product vendors in attendance to market their products, Brands such as;

Brief talks were given by the dignitaries present, which came after the founder gave her opening speech and the cultural dance presentations. I was only able to attend the program on the 14th because my Saturday was already booked. Now I’m not writing to give minutes about the program or a descriptive essay but I want to share my personal experience at the program.

First of all, I was inspired by the opening remark of the founder, she shared with us the genesis of how the summit came to be. According to Mrs Adanna, she suffered hair burn from using texturizer on her hair and the experience birthed her decision to go natural, and also make researches on how to take care of natural hair which paved the way for further research on how to live a healthy and natural life generally.

According to one of the speakers, Dr. Oluwakemi Osunderu, (M.Sc, PhD) it has been discovered according to researches that quite a number of harmful chemicals(hydroquinone, mercury) found in some relaxers, bleaching cream and other cosmetics are the leading cause of Cancer and other terminal diseases found in African women.

The various talks given by the NAFDAC, SON and Abuja Enterprise was basically about the qualification required for a product to be approved for sales in Nigeria and how the process of approval is done.

It was a wonderful experience to be in a gathering of women who had choosen to keep and groom their hair, people who have taken time to study the natural ingredients that works for our hair, to make products that makes our hair journey easier.

I could see a lot of young and old people enthusiastic about this natural hair movement, years ago nobody wanted to keep their natural hair and now there are thousands, if not millions of women owning back their identity and embracing their God-given gifts.

Soooooooooooo I got a few products from the vendors and…..🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁📱🥁🥁 *drumrolls* I will be making product review videos so ANTICIPATE!!!!!!!

I hope you all feel encouraged to attend the next summit, I made a short clip of the summit do check it out.

TILL NEXT TIME❤❤❤
