So this post will be on the tips or rules to follow to have long lasting twist-outs. Alot of us, make our hair in twists and when we decide to do a twist-out, our hair does not come out the way we expect it to or the way it should come out. We might feel doing a twist out may not be for us or our hair type but there’s GOODNEWS, any hair type can rock a twist, if done properly, starting from the making of the twists to the loosening. there is no special magic to it, all we have to do is follow these simple rules as follows:
Twist your hair in a wet or damp state (80%-90% wet). This must be done to get really popping curls. The hair is most flexible in a wet state, so whatever form it’s made into while its wet, when it becomes dry it would most likely stay that way unless altered.
Apply a butter-gel mixture to your hair. Butter as in Shea Butter, Mango butter etc. The butter will soften your hair, and the gel will keep the twist in place especially when the hair gets dry, just as simple as that.

Make small twists. The bigger the twist, the less defined the curls will be and the shorter the twist-out would last. So, we should aim at making small – medium twists especially when we want to carry the twist-out for a longer period of time.
Avoid spraying water on the twist-out. This will literally ruin the style because water+natural hair=shrinkage=loss of defined curls from twist. you can moisturize but keep it to the minimal to ensure your twist-out lasts longer.
Don’t over separate the twist. When you are taking out your twist, do not loosen one twist into 4-5 strands, doing that will make the twist loose its definition, once or twice is ok depending on how thick the twist is.
SECURE THE BAG😎( I mean”secure the twists”). When you go to bed at night, please do yourself the favour of putting your hair away in a shower cap, satin scarf or whatever you use to cover your hair This will help to preserve your style. No one would want to spend so much time making their hair for a big day, and wake up looking like half baked bread, nooooo you have to look like the freshly baked hot bread.😎
So that will be all for this post, if you have any questions, you could comment it down below and if you were able to achieve a great twist out, you could take a pic and tag me on Instagram( _abygeal_ or queen_geal_blog)
